The day her husband died!

These two ladies were sitting underneath two grass huts.

The grass huts are called "Nippa" hut.  The hut itself is made from trees and wood but the roof is made from rice grass.

Since these ladies were just hanging out there I thought I would take a moment to ask them some questions.

The whole topid of the film I was shooting was on the blood, sweat, rice and happiness of the people living in the Ifugao province.

So, naturally I asked these two ladies what the happiest day of their life was.

Without even pausing for one second the lady in blue replied, "The day my husband died".

She really caught me off guard and I nearly burst into laughter until I realized that she wasn't smiling at all.

The reason she said was "because I don't have to carry water, wash his clothes, cook his meals, etc.  Now I am free".

The sure caused me to think a lot about the relationships we have with the people we love.

Are we contributing to the relationship or are we a drain on our better half?

The answer to that is for you to determine.
