Geof at Bataad, Philippines

You can't even see one tenth (1/10th) of the rice terraces in this photo.  

It took me almost an hour to get this far in my walk across the terraces.

The terraces cover the entire mountainside of Bataad and have been there for more than 2000 years.

I was standing right in the middle of ancient history!

They told me the terraces had a lot of steps.

Prior to walking from one side to the other I had thought about climbing from the bottom to the top to see how high it really was.....then I took that little walk and totally tossed that idea out the window!

Instead, I hired a native man to do the walking for me.

He counted the steps.  

Did you know that there are more than 8000 steps on the terraces?
