The most Silent Night - Geoffrey Hill

On December 19, 2021 I played a piano solo at church.  I had toyed with dozens of different styles of the song struggling to decide how I wanted to play it.  Nothing felt good.  SO, I went to the studio and asked Chris Maberry "How do you think I should play Silent Night this Sunday at church?"  He said, "You always add bling to everything you do. That's who you are.  I think you should just play it with one finger and then slowly build on it without adding any bling at all.  Zero sparkle".  So, that's what I decided to do.  The whole idea resonated with me.

I pushed record on my phone and dropped it in my shirt pocket inside my suit coat where it created a sound like an old scratchy vinyl record.  I sat at the piano, closed my eyes and played one note.
